Board of Adjustment (BAJ)
Description:
Land use issues. 8 year term limit.
Maximum Number of Members: 7
Meeting Location:
Mayor and Council Chambers & Conference Room, City Hall, 255 W. Alameda
Meeting Time: 2010: Last Wednesday of each month, with exception of 11/17/10, 12/29/10, & 1/26/2011; at 12:00 p.m.
Membership Requirements:
No member of the Board of Adjustment is to hold any city, county, or state elective office or be a permanent employee of the City while a member of the Board of Adjustment.
Each member of the City Council appoints one member who must be a resident of the appointing Council Member's ward. The Mayor appoints one member who must be a resident of the city. Should an appointment not be made within thirty days of the date the position becomes vacant, the appointment can be made by a majority vote of the Mayor and Council.
An appointment to fill an unexpired term shall be for the unexpired portion of the term.
The term of each member of the Board of Adjustment is coterminous with the term of the appointing Mayor or Council Member or until a successor is appointed

Civil Service Commission (CSC)
Description:
Hear appeals by city employees. 12 year term limit.
Maximum Number of Members: 5
Meeting Location:

Meeting Time: Meets as required.
Membership Requirements:
Resident and Qualified elector of the City of Tucson for five years preceding appointment. Members may not hold any other public office. No more than three members of the same political affiliation shall serve on the Commission.
Tucson Code Section 10A-134(b) provides that members of the Civil Service Commission may serve for no more than two consecutive six-year terms (12 years). Terms expire on the same date as the first regular Mayor and Council meeting in January.
Members may be appointed to fill unexpired terms but if that unexpired term is for more than three years (or in other words, more than 1/2 of the 6 year term), that is considered one full term.

Planning Commission (PC)
Description:
Advise Mayor and Council and the Department of Urban Planning & Design on the adoption of long-range plans, policies, specific plans, and regulations that affect land use and development. 8 year term limit.

Mayor and Council Chambers, 1st Floor, City Hall, 255 W. Alameda
Meeting Time: 2010: 1st Wednesday of each month, at 6:00 p.m.
Membership Requirements:
Members of the Commission are appointed on the basis of their interest in the city and its future development, particularly as demonstrated by active participation in community affairs directly related to planning issues.
No members shall hold any city, county, or state elective office or be a permanent employee of the City while appointed to the Commission.
Each member of the City Council appoints two (2) members, both of whom must be residents of the city and at least one (1) of whom must be a resident of the Council Member's ward. The Mayor appoints one (1) member who must be a resident of the city.
The term of each member of the Commission is coterminous with the term of the appointing Mayor or Council member, or until a successor on the body is appointed.
